I will second that idea of being paranoid..

There will be that day that something goes terribly wrong and 2-4 backups are lost, stolen, or destroyed. I've had it where I lost my USB stick and a hard drive crashed. >.< (Fortunately Dropbox was used; I used a "Portable" version that is actually on my USB stick) Pissed me off though. I'd add "doing copy-paste" into Google Docs as a 5th.

Edit: Also, when you save the thesis, I'd make dated copy files (i.e. 20090105thesis.doc, 200901020thesis.doc, etc.) for major changes, saved onto various places.

Edit x2: E-mailing oneself the thesis from time to time too >.> Seriously. I've been in that type of situation where I had a near catastrophic loss. No matter what you think would be good, it can get worse.

There was a free market before Medicare, for decades if not centuries. Didn't happen.

Meanwhile, every actual pay-per-outcome system in the world is, if not single-payer, at least heavily regulated and centralized.

Lastly, among the reasons why every insurance provider (including Medicare) can't just switch over to pay-per-outcome is not so much cost (as noted, this woul;d probably reduce overall costs regardless), but because Doctors and hospitals won't accept it. Switching to such a model would create a massive competitive disadvantage and vastly reduce the pool of health care providers willing to accept that insurance. This is as true for Medicare as it is for any insurance plan.

The Republican party is being blackened and ruined by the hate filled scaremongers like the ones above. The fact that no Republicans seem to be denouncing these idiots only makes them look like they agree.

If the Republicans want to start being taken seriously again they need to stop their school playground name calling tactics and start trying to do what's best for their voters not their wallets.

I find it hard to care about the Republicans, they seem to be nothing more than puppets with co orperate hands up their backsides.

I'd say give it a shot, it's never too late. Think about what issues are important to you (explore your metaphysics if you will, think about what goodness is and if that's what you want to pursue), whether it be education, community development, sustainable agriculture, or what have you. There are opportunities all around the world for these types of things, from organizations like the Peace Corps, AmeriCorps, to internet sites that will link up organic, sustainable farms to those looking to apprentice at a farm and learn the trade.

It isn't about being rich. Sometimes we had to make hard choices, or sell things that we enjoyed to pay for it. But the bottom line is that it was a matter of personal choice, and not that there was no access to work related insurance. But even then, there were occasions that we chose to go with a different insurance, as opposed to the COBRA. But it was there, if we chose to use it.

There is a difference between saying something does not exist, and that you choose not to use a particular one.

    >Filipino parents wanted their daughters to marry white men.

Just because you've seen evidence that there's truth in stereotype doesn't make it less of a stereotype-- a black man enjoying KFC doesn't mean all black people love fried chicken.

That said, I lived in an Asian neighborhood, and most of my Filipino friends wouldn't be caught dead dating white people, after I moved away to a less racially segregated neighborhood, the lines were practically non-existent. I think it's the environment rather than culture.

When I was 29 I had a similar experience with a gorgeous woman who looked like J-Lo, had 5 kids and a husband who was a police officer. (Im telling you for a woman with 5 kids, you could not tell) I kept imagining the worst, had problems eating and sleeping, E.D. and finally decided that it was not the best position to be putting myself in. She was obviously needy since her husband and her weren't getting along, and the amount of time she required from me increased exponentially. She became irate when I told her via email that this was too much trouble for me to be comfortable with. She cursed me out and called me every name in the book, followed me around town, called me at crazy hours. I wasn't the one to start this either. I just sort of sucked me into it.

Save yourself the headache, stop this before it goes much further, because the longer you wait the harder it becomes.

My friend and me where driving around one night stoned as fuck as always, we got lost or where trying to get lost in a suburb just taking streets as they come. We take a right and turn into this street take another right the whole time we're just talkin shit. He screams "STOP!" and I jam on the breaks not realizing what he was talkin about he looks white as fuck an says "just back up man" I back the car up like 5 meters and there in the middle of the road is what looks like to be a body covered in a white sheet. I jammed that car in reverse so quick and got out of there. Till this day I never heard anything about anyone dieing in that suburb even though I checked the news for the days after. I don't know if it was a body but there was no blood so I doubt it was a crash. It was almost like a prank and somebody was just laying under it still, or someone had put a sheet over a log or something. But it definitely looked like a body.
